As a project we have always recognised the importance of creating employment paths for people in the community, particularly young people. This we feel is a key strategy to preventing young people from engaging in criminal and drug type activities. It is for this reason that we were centrally involved in the establishment of a community benefit steering committee that will be responsible for ensuring these benefits happen i.e. jobs in construction and on completion, enterprise opportunities. A foundation study is in process that will set out a road map for the type of jobs that will emerge over the next 10 – 15 years.
